Ethics and Sales

This week has brought some new challenges to my job here at The Courier-Journal. My new position requires me to make contact with inactive customers and potential news customers through phone and e-mail. The priority is to set up a time for a phone meeting to do some needs analysis and learn about their recruitment process. My colleague has begun to place ads for folks that currently have account representatives assigned to them. My understanding is accounts are off limits if they have an active ledger account. Now were being told that if a company hasn't placed an ad in 90 days that the account are fair game to anyone. Well that's changes everything. We're no longer a team. No we've been given permission in my opinion to steal adds from our colleagues active ledger accounts. I just don't feel comfortable doing that. I know it's all part of sales, but I didn't sign up for stealing from friends potential income. This is a big wake up call that my moral decision making brain and heart don't fit into the sales world at all. Yikes!!!
